A Response to An Industry Problem
In 2017, the founders of what would become Indo GMP noticed a persistent problem: kratom being exported from Indonesia consistently failed to meet reasonable food safety standards. Complaints were piling up from international buyers about inconsistent quality, contamination, and a complete lack of documentation.
Rather than simply join the market as-is, they chose a different path — building Indonesia’s first purpose-built GMP-certified kratom processing facility from the ground up, in Sibau Hulu, Kapuas Hulu, deep in the heart of West Kalimantan’s finest kratom-growing territory.
PT. Permata Global Agroindo was formally established in 2020. By 2022, it had achieved GMP certification — becoming one of the only kratom processors in Indonesia to implement GMP standards across pre-harvest, harvest, and post-harvest stages.

When we began this journey in 2017, our goal was not simply to build a kratom processing facility. We envisioned a science-driven manufacturing ecosystem where quality, hygiene, safety, and product consistency are built into every stage of production from the very beginning, rather than assessed only through final product testing.
With this vision in mind, we adopted international principles and standards, including HACCP, cGMP, FSSC, ISO, and other quality frameworks as the foundation of our production systems. For us, quality is never a matter of chance. It is the result of disciplined, measurable, and accountable processes.
In 2020, we brought this vision to life by establishing a cGMP facility at the upstream end of the industry, close to the source of our raw materials. This decision was driven not merely by proximity to supply, but by our conviction that risk management must begin from the moment the first leaf is harvested.
Through a HACCP-based approach, potential hazards are identified and controlled at every stage, from harvesting and drying to the initial processing of leaves into dried leaves and crushed leaf (crumbs). Every operation follows strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain hygiene, prevent cross-contamination, and ensure that raw materials entering subsequent processing stages meet our requirements for safety, cleanliness, and consistency.
Our philosophy is simple: the better we control the earliest stages of production, the better we can preserve quality throughout the entire process. That is why we have built more than a processing facility. We have built a system in which process integrity forms the foundation of quality assurance.
